From hometown heroes to toe-tapping tunes, this month’s kit is all about the friendly traits that help people connect, care, and shine in their communities. Preschoolers will learn about real-life helpers – like doctors, firefighters, and teachers – explore how voting works, and discover everyday ways to express kindness and cooperation.
Explore hands-on (and voices-on!) with musical instruments, sign language, and creative ways to communicate with preschoolers – all while learning how to care for their smiles with fun facts about teeth and dental health. Through songs, stories, pretend play, and more, this kit is packed with joyful moments that build empathy, confidence, and social smarts and help children grow into big-hearted friends and thoughtful community members.
Across this kit’s four weeks’ worth of lessons, students:
- Dig into a sensory bin to find the first letter of their names, then learn how to sign it using American Sign Language.
- Act out real-life situations where someone feels left out and find kind ways to mend hurt feelings, including how to express our sadness when excluded, and be inclusive.
- Brainstorm everyday heroic acts – like helping set the table, tucking in a sibling, or hugging a friend – and celebrate the small ways we can show care.
- Build a guitar from nothing more than a shoebox and rubber bands, explore how it makes sound, and team up to create music together.

Egg-cellent Dental Discovery
What happens when we don’t brush our teeth? Time to find out! Little scientists soak eggs – whose protective shells are like our tooth enamel – in sugary drinks and predict what might happen. The next day, scientists return to their stations to inspect the eggs. With toothbrushes in hand, they test how well brushing works on the stained eggs – and discover and discuss why taking care of our smiles is so important!
