Four weeks of learning in one kit – all about food, farms, feelings, and familiar neighborhood places – can be your complete November curriculum or enhance your existing preschool lesson plans.
Looking for more guided play, deeper learning, and fresh lesson ideas? Need support engaging families? We’ve got you covered!
In our individual preschool learning kits, timeless preschool themes rule the day. Educators can use the kit’s contents to support their existing themes and units for use any time of year, ensuring teachers are supported and in control of their days.
From farm to table, this preschool fall harvest kit takes preschoolers on a fun adventure to explore how food gets from the ground to our plates. They’ll discover how farmers, animals, and the land all work together to grow and harvest the food that nourishes us. As kids learn about different farms and explore geography, they’ll develop a deeper sense of understanding of and pride in the places they call home and what it means to be a good citizen.
Along the way, children will also explore big emotions like worry, grumpiness, and even mixed feelings, like being happy and sad at the same time. Plus, with gratitude in the air this season, kids will learn how a thankful heart can turn frowns into smiles!
Across this kit’s four weeks’ worth of lessons, students:
And more!
Good question! Each kit ships in one box and includes:
In every resource, we seek to stoke a child’s sense of creativity, agency, and joy.
Neighborhood Picture Map
Kids work together to sort and glue pictures of common neighborhood features–schools, parks, houses, stores, and more—onto poster board to create their very own little neighborhood. As they build, they talk about what each part of a neighborhood does and why it’s important. It’s a great way to boost teamwork, sorting skills, and understanding how communities work.
Time to Eat
People aren’t the only ones who need healthy food to live and grow–animals do, too! With stuffed animal friends and play food, kids learn what different animals eat and why. Then, they draw their favorite foods on a paper plate and share why they find it so delicious. It’s a fun way to build vocabulary, social skills, and an early understanding of nutrition.
The weekly Family Newsletter is an excellent way to engage families and – psst – show off all the excellent learning at your school!
Just some of the activity ideas that little ones and families love in the Food and Nutrition Family Newsletter (one of the four included in the kit):
How can families get their little ones interested in a variety of healthy foods? By letting them play with their food, of course! Each newsletter includes a family-fun activity. In this one, children get to flatten bread with a rolling pin, spread on cream cheese goodness, stack their favorite veggies, and roll it up into a tasty, nutritious wrap.
This newsletter’s QR code takes caregivers to all kinds of ideas to raise kids who enjoy a rainbow of foods that make their bodies strong and their brains ready to learn.
